Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett is officially entering the NFL, as the two-time NCAA champion is headed to the Rams after being taken in the fourth round. Bennett will backup another former Bulldog in Matthew Stafford, as the two are currently the only quarterbacks on the Rams roster.
Entering day three, Bennett was arguably the biggest name remaining, and he was certainly the most successful signal-caller, so the NFL world was waiting to see where he would go. After Los Angeles made the selection, fans and analysts alike chimed in on what they thought about the fit between Bennett and the Rams.
The Rams take Georgia QB Stetson Bennett—I got the sense coaches getting involved in the process with teams across the league raised his stock. One I talked to thought he could go in the third and felt like he'd been stigmatized as a "walk-on".

LA's a great landing spot for him.
New #Rams QB Stetson Bennett a fascinating prospect. Some teams definitely had him as the No. 6 QB. He's a baller. Maturity/character concerns were real on teams' files, too. But he goes to an ideal spot in L.A. as the first QB selected in the Sean McVay era.

Rams get their backup QB at No. 128, and it’s Stetson Bennett. Staff is pretty high on Bennett - offense and defense.

Applause from upstairs as the pick is announced!
Of course, Bennett is an older prospect at 25 years-old, since he was a walk-on at Georgia at the start of a long and winding college career. So social media had some fun with the idea that Bennett is entering the NFL seeming like a veteran already.
Pretty cool that Stetson Bennett and Matthew Stafford were teammates and Georgia and now all these years later they are reunited with the Rams. Gotta love the NFL Draft man

Stetson Bennett selected by the Rams. Not sure if he’ll see a lot of playing time but he’ll do a nice job mentoring younger players like Cam Akers, Matthew Stafford and Eric Dickerson.

With Matthew Stafford coming off a rough year, the Rams draft Stetson Bennett. They figure having an older quarterback on the roster to mentor Stafford should help.

Bennett’s final collegiate game came at SoFi Stadium, as Georgia trounced TCU in the national championship, and now Bennett will get to play his pro games there.
