With Marcus Rashford enduring a season of poor form on the pitch and apparent lax discipline off it, where better for the forward to seek a fresh start than, er, Paris Saint-Germain? The French champions, aware that they may lose one over-scrutinised wantaway star forward in the summer, want a replacement and it seems Rashford would fit the bill if Kylian Mbappé departs, reports the i. He’d cost PSG’s Qatari owners a fair whack, mind, given that Rashford is under contract at Manchester United until 2028, and that in the summer of 2022 they failed to tempt him away with a £400,000-a-week offer.
A possible Old Trafford incoming is the Atalanta midfielder Ederson. The Brazilian has impressed in Serie A this season, prompting United to make overtures. However, Atalanta don’t want to sell until the summer at the earliest, though the website Goal Brasil reports that Ederson is ready to listen to offers now.
We’re likely to be flooded with rumours about Liverpool players in the coming months, as the book closes on Jürgen Klopp’s reign. Tongues are wagging already over Virgil van Dijk’s future and none other than Real Madrid are keen. The Spanish daily Fichages reckons the Bernebéu hierarchy plan “to go for his immediate signing”. Klopp’s been scoffing at all this, of course, and may yet have a valedictory incoming. Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo is out of contract in the summer, at which point Liverpool will be poised to swoop for the 26-year-old defender.
Tottenham may have done their January business earlier than most but that hasn’t stopped them being linked with Dominic Solanke. The in-form Bournemouth striker has already been the subject of rebuffed approaches from Newcastle and West Ham but the Sun reckons Spurs are preparing an audacious, and expensive, deadline swoop. Meanwhile the Tottenham midfielder Bryan Gil could be off to Brighton on loan. Talks have reportedly begun between the clubs over the 22-year-old.
Borussia Dortmund’s Gio Reyna has been a late-breaking hit of this January’s rumour-fest, and it would appear he is moving ever closer to a deal with Nottingham Forest. Fiorentina have also shown interest but it seems the lure of the mist rolling in from the Trent has won out and the American will join the Premier League side on loan until the end of the season, with Forest having an option to buy for €15m-20m (£13m-£17m). Given their financial issues, Forest’s ability to exercise that option may be up in the air. Heading out of the City Ground, meanwhile, might be Orel Mangala, with Lyon eager to seal a £30m deal for the midfielder.
Bayern Munich are reportedly close to rounding off a busy window with the signing of the 22-year-old Spanish winger Bryan Zaragoza from Granada, who in their turn want to bring in Facundo Pellistri on loan from Manchester United.
Celtic are thought to be closing in on a late deal for the Norwich striker Adam Idah. The 22-year-old has been at Norwich since the start of his professional career but Football Insider reports a move to the Scottish champions is becoming more likely.
And staying with the Championship, Southampton are set to lose Carlos Alcaraz to Juventus. The Italian giants are closing in on a loan deal with a €35m option to buy the Argentinian midfielder.
