Football-mad Robbie Williams says he supports Germany over England in chaotic set

Robbie Williams has stopped supporting the England football team, and swapped to Germany.

The singer says the Germans are “more fun”.

Speaking on stage in Munich, the star told the crowd: “I love your country. I love you as a people and I f***ing love your football team.

“It is more fun supporting Germany than it is supporting England so... No, I mean it.”

He must have found the Women’s Euros disappointing then.

Robbie, who played for England during his Soccer Aid charity event, says he has a soft spot for his “loyal” German fans.

“In the strangest kind of way you keep me sane,” he said. “There are things that you have in your life that keep you protected from the outside world and your faith in me turning up in these so many numbers again and again and again, it keeps me feeling safe and keeps me feeling protected.

“I know it is f***ed up but I am a pretty f***ed up guy.”

He added, to show his sincerity: “I don’t say that everywhere I go. There are some countries I don’t give a s*** about.

“I wont mention them here as I would still like to sell tickets there.”

The singer admitted that during his One Night Only set he had to throw up behind a drum kit, first blaming his emotions, and then putting his illness down to him quitting smoking and eating 70 nicotine mints instead.

“That is what happens when you have too much nicotine mints,” he laughed after his chunder.

He could probably have done with a mint afterwards.
