Football-mad Great Dane cross named after ex-Prime Minister in search of a home

Thanks to Churchill, the name Winston is often associated with greatness and someone that has a commanding presence. So, when it comes to Dogs Trust Manchester, please visit the website. at Dogs Trust Manchester, he certainly lives up to his name.

Winston is a Great Dane cross American bulldog who ‘once seen is never forgotten’. While he can be shy, when it’s time for a walk his ‘tail never stops wagging’.

The three-year-old pooch loves heading outside to explore, but back home he’s described as a ‘sweet natured, cuddly boy’ who will love to snuggle up on a duvet.

Dawn Bishop, Manager at Dogs Trust Manchester, says: “Winston is a lovely boy who loves his treats such as ham, chicken and cheese so this will be a great way for his new owners to build a bond and do fun training with him. He already knows sit, down and how to shake paws but he has lots of potential.

“He is great fun and loves toys too, especially squeaky ones and footballs and is happy to play on his own and entertain everyone watching!”

The lovable giant is looking for a home (Dogs Trust)

While Winston is quite a big lad due to his breeds, he walks nicely on the lead. The rescue added: “He enjoys a day trip and would prefer to be walked in quieter areas as he gets anxious if other dogs approach him. He would prefer a home without too many visitors given he likes to take his time to get to know people and he would love a secure garden to enjoy off-lead time in.”

Dogs Trust Manchester said Winston enjoys being the centre of attention and loves to have a fuss made of him. He has been anxious around men previously, but has ‘made progress’ since being at the centre, but he will need an adult-only home.

If you think Winston would be a ‘pawfect’ fit for you, or you would like to find out more about any of the other dogs looking for their forever homes at Dogs Trust Manchester, please visit the website.
