A Bolton Wanderers fan has come up with a novel way to get a girl's phone number, despite her being a rival fan and sitting in a different stand.
A clip has emerged on social media of the Trotters fan successfully exchanging numbers with the Barnsley supporter. The incident happened last Monday, when Bolton travelled to Oakwell for a clash in League One.
The two teams are rivals for promotion from the third tier to the Championship, with both currently sitting in the play-off places. Despite that rivalry though, two fans have opted to cross the dividing line to exchange details, thanks to a steward.
The clip, shared on YouTube by Around the Grounds, shows a steward talking to a Barnsley-supporting woman in the front row of a stand at Oakwell. He then proceeds to carry a piece of paper with her phone number on it past a line of colleagues, up the steps of the away stand, where a man is waiting.
The steward then hands the man the piece of paper and receives a hug, before the Bolton fan raises his arms in celebration. Both sets of supporters also celebrated the successful attempt to get the woman's number.
The fan was celebrated on social media for the novel way he was able to secure the woman's number. Some where even surprised he was able to spot her from his seat in a separate stand.

One said: "Did he have binoculars at the match to spot her in the crowd?" Another added: "Saw this happen from the back of the stand." And a third said: "So many questions about this we’ll never get the answer to!"
The Bolton fan was ultimately left the happier of the couple, with his side securing a comfortable 3-0 win. Goals from Dion Charles, Jon Daoi Bodvarsson and Kyle Dempsey were enought to wrap up the three points, leaving boss Ian Evatt delighted.
“When we have the right energy and attitude and play with the right aggression and intensity with and without the ball we’re a really good team. We let ourselves down in the first half the other day at Lincoln. We wanted to set the record straight today," he said.
“There was some frustration from us with the way the two games against Barnsley had already gone this season and we felt like we needed to turn up and show the best version of ourselves and I think we did that today.
“I’m just really pleased for the players. We’ve put a lot into this month. We’re a hard team to beat, a difficult team to beat and we know we’ve left some points out there. But I think we’re doing the right things and I’m really pleased with today.
“This is a team when we score first is a really difficult team to beat and we tend to win games. The players are giving their absolute best and on their day and at their best they are capable of performances like that.”
