Football club apologises after tweeting video of Harvey Price

Football club Grimsby Town has issued an apology after tweeting a short video of Harvey Price, son of Katie. The animated GIF of Harvey saying 'what a day' was tweeted after the team beat Southampton 2-1 to secure a place in the FA Cup quarter finals.

The Tweet - which has since been deleted - read: "Signing off for the night! Enjoy your night, Town fans," reports GrimsbyLive. Twitter users were quick to criticise the club in the comments, branding the Tweet as "very poor taste".

Mr Price, 20, has septo-optic dysplasia, autism, Prader-Willi syndrome, learning difficulties and behavioural problems.

A spokesperson for Grimsby Town said: "It has come to our attention that an inappropriate gif was posted on the club’s official Twitter account late last night following our game against Southampton in the Emirates FA Cup.

"The post was removed this morning as soon as we were made aware. We would like to wholeheartedly apologise for any offence it has caused. UTM."

It comes shortly after Katie Price’s son was allegedly the subject of “inappropriate and derogatory” images shared by a number of Metropolitan Police officers in a WhatsApp group chat. The 44-year-old model and TV personality shared an image of a letter detailing the alleged misconduct on her Instagram story.

In the letter, which was addressed to Price an investigator from the Discrimination Investigation Unit within the Professional Standards Department of the Met Police informed her that “a number of Metropolitan Police officers are alleged to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in regards to Discreditable Conduct for being part of a WhatsApp group chat that has posted inappropriate and derogatory images of your son, Harvey Price”.

Katie Price has previously campaigned for more stringent laws to be introduced surrounding trolling and online abuse after her son was targeted by online trolls.
