Footage shows DPD delivery driver launching parcel into garden and running off

A delivery driver was caught on camera lobbing a parcel over a garden fence then sprinting away from the property before the occupant could even open the door.

The DPD courier even had time to snap a picture of the package in a bush before speedily making his exit.

The resident expecting a parcel delivered was left mystified when upon hearing their motion alarm, they opened the back-door to find no-one there.

Steph, who lives at the property with her partner, says they then heard a loud bang outside as the package landed outside an unused door, reports Bristol Live.

The pair were then left in hysterics upon watching back footage to discover what had actually happened and seeing the driver sprinting off. Steph said: "It’s all one garden that wraps around the house, but this is the side door that we don’t use.

"When he [my partner] opened the back door and came out the delivery guy started running away. We thought it was absolutely hilarious.

"Clearly, this guy was in a hurry, but luckily had enough time to take a photo of his over-armed parcel.

The couple revealed the parcel contained a bike battery, which had a label on it appearing to warn of a flammable battery, which she thought must have been missed due to the driver's approach.

Steph added: "Luckily it was just a battery but it could have been a gift for someone or something expensive that had to be handled carefully."

The 30-year-old said they have since reported the incident to DPD, who she said was the delivery company responsible, as the content of the box could have been "something of great meaning to someone"

Bristol Live has approached DPD for a comment.
