Food gifts from Galloway have been handed over to around 1,600 residents of in a deprived neighbourhood of a Kenyan city.
Creetown man Eddie McGaw helped set up Project Nakuru a decade ago to help improve the lives of people living round a dump site.
And in the latest aid initiative £2,280 was sent over to Nakuru to make up parcels of food and other essentials.
Eddie, 52, told the News: “The money was collected via raffles, car boot sales, sponsored walks and other fundraisers.
“Just as in 2020, there was no trip over in 2021 so we sent money across instead to our contact in Nakuru.
“She made up the food parcels to be given out to folk in the dump site area.
“Myself, Ann Todd from Wigtown and Fi McCall from Wishaw all helped out.
“There was enough food in bag for three weeks or so and around 1600 people will benefit from their extra wee presents – thanks to Project Nakuru.”
