Food expert shares unusual method to keep potatoes good for up to ten weeks

A food expert has shared an unusual method in ensuring that his potatoes last for much longer than usual. Mike, who regularly posts on the Kitchen Tips Online YouTube channel, shared a list of dos and not to dos in storing the beloved spud.

And we’ve heard this often when it comes to storing food - he suggests leaving them in a dry and cold place. But the eye-raising part of this tip, is that he advises people to utilise the cellar or the basement when storing the food item, the Mirror reports.

He explains: “When I used to live in Ohio, I used to put my potatoes in a basement, in a bin, and they would last routinely for eight to 10 weeks.”
