Elizabeth Ford, Founder and CEO of BetterALife in Purcellville, VA, remembers having only one immediate concern as a child when she first opened her eyes – food. Not what she would eat, but if she would eat.

“That was just a daily thing,” Ford told SavingAdvice. “It was a matter of waking up and saying, ‘How are we going to eat today?’
