Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl BBQs for 450 homeless people on 16 hour shift at shelter

Dave Grohl is perhaps best known for putting his vocal chops on display with Foo Fighters, but the rocker put his cooking skills to the test after catering for 450 homeless people.

The band’s frontman, 54, took to The Hope Mission in Los Angeles, California, at around midnight on Wednesday to start preparing a BBQ for those in need with his overnight essentials and a larger-than-life meat smoker.

Over the course of the next 16 hours, the Everlong rockstar cooked up a delicious selection of food, including ribs, brisket, pork shoulder, and accompanying side dishes, including cabbage, coleslaw, beans, and what appeared to be a huge tray of macaroni and cheese.

In pictures obtained by TMZ , the father-of-three is working just as hard as the other volunteers to ensure that the food is truly prepared with heart and soul.

The publication reported that Dave expensed the food and cookers on-site, and even rested on site whilst waiting for the meat to be smoked.

Then, at serving time, the My Hero hitmaker spoke with fellow Hope Mission members of staff, as well as guests living in the shelter.

The outlet revealed that Dave and the rest of the staff’s efforts helped to fill the stomachs of around 450 of the less fortunate, and 50 members of staff.

The gesture comes almost one year after the sudden death of Taylor Hawkins, which rocked the band in March 2022 when he was tragically found dead in a hotel room in Bogota, Columbia.

Months after his bandmate’s death, Dave surprised Glastonbury-goers as he took to the stage to join music legend Sir Paul McCartney on stage, and appeared to show a tattoo tribute to his late drummer friend.

The festival appearance marked the first time the former Nirvana star had performed in public appearance since bandmate Hawkins sudden death in March, while Foo Fighters were on tour in Colombia.

And eagle-eyed fans at home reacted on Grohl's tattoo showing a large ‘T’ on the back of his right hand, appearing to be a tribute to his late friend and bandmate.
