STEPHEN Flynn has challenged the Prime Minister to "follow the policy path laid out by John Swinney" as he attends the British-Irish council today in Edinburgh.
SNP Westminster leader Flynn said Keir Starmer should also "give Anas Sarwar his marching orders" to vote for the draft Scottish Budget laid out by Finance Secretary Shona Robison this week.
He said the Scottish people would take "no excuses" from Labour if they vote against the Budget which proposes scrapping the two-child cap and restoring a Winter Fuel Payment for pensioners. The challenge comes in a week when the Prime Minister launched an emergency reset following a dramatic collapse in support for the new Labour Government, only a matter of months since taking office.
“Not only should Keir Starmer heed our advice, he should give Anas Sarwar his marching orders to vote for a Scottish budget that delivers the progress the public want to see." He added: “In the summer the Prime Minister promised the people of Scotland change – but all we have witnessed since is a growing list of broken promises. “And it is that growing list of broken promises that leads me to hope that the Prime Minister will be making many more trips to Scotland before the election in 2026 –haste ye back.”
