Floyd Mayweather tells Jake Paul he has "problems" after YouTuber's call-out

Floyd Mayweather has claimed YouTube star Jake Paul has "problems" and only wants to fight him because he is 45-years-old.

The boxing legend will take part in his latest exhibition contest against YouTube star Deji in Dubai on Sunday night. Mayweather has already fought YouTube star Logan Paul, with his sibling Jake becoming heavily involved in the build-up after stealing the boxing legend's hat.

Since then Paul has repeatedly called out Mayweather and would ideally like to get an attempt at spoiling Mayweather's 50-0 undefeated professional record. The 47-year-old believes Paul should enjoy his current success in the boxing ring as he may come unstuck when he fights an opponent with a professional boxing background.

Jake Paul got problems right here [points to Tommy Fury ], he talks a lot of things I’m not sure he means," Mayweather said at today's press conference. "He is doing good for what he is doing. It is what it is he is a lot of talk. It is different when you are at the highest level, once you get in there against a real fighter it will be over for him. Of course he wants to fight me I am 50-years-old [sic].”

Mayweather has stated on multiple occasions he is uninterested in risking his professional record having retired after beating UFC fighter Conor McGregor in 2017. However Paul asserted his name in the mind of Mayweather after their physical altercation at his brother Logan's press conference last year.

Paul has previously suggested he would be open to a professional contest but would be reluctant to stage an exhibition after making progress with six wins on his record. Prior to his recent win over UFC legend Anderson Silva last month, Paul issued a lengthy call-out to Mayweather suggesting that his rival was scared of accepting any proposal.

He said: " Floyd Mayweather telling Jake Paul that you will only fight Jake Paul if he comes down to his weight, 140 pounds or something. I can’t believe what’s going on in the world. I can’t believe this is real. Floyd, I will fight you. And you know that’s one of the biggest fights to make in boxing. I weigh 175, you weigh 165 — we can get that done, make a couple $100 million. But what will your excuse be?

"I want to say, ‘I’ve got your 0.’ I don’t want to just say, ‘I’ve got your hat.’ I got your 0. But you’re going to find a way to dance around this. You’ve said, ‘Once he finds a professional fighter, he’s going to get destroyed'. It’ll be back for him.’ Why not let that be you? The best ever. There’s only one Mayweather. But he’s scared to fight Jake Paul. It’s 2022, I can’t believe what the f***’s going on, guys."
