Floyd Mayweather sends message to AnEson Gib ahead of YouTube boxing return

Floyd Mayweather has claimed he will be watching AnEson Gib's YouTube boxing return against Austin McBroom this summer.

Gib will return for the first time since being held to a controversial majority decision draw against TikTok star Taylor Holder on the undercard of the YouTubers vs TikTokers white-collar boxing event last year. The result was later overturned with Gib pronounced the winner before announcing his next opponent in event organiser McBroom.

Mayweather believes Gib was "cheated" out of victory in his last fight and has called for the star to redeem himself against McBroom this summer. “Hey Gib, I know what happened to your last fight. You got cheated," Mayweather said on a YouTube announcement video on Gib's channel. "I thought you won; you thought you won. But now you can redeem yourself. I know you fighting against Austin. Good luck, go out there and do what you've got to do.

“It’s going to be a good fight. I’m going to be watching you. But good luck once again. You’re hearing it from the one and only, Floyd ‘Make that Money’ Mayweather.” Mayweather's sudden interest could hint to Gib being shortlisted for a future exhibition meeting, having already fought YouTube star Logan Paul.

The boxing legend was also in talks with YouTuber Money Kicks before talks broke down and he opted to fight former sparring partner Don Moore. Gib first stepped in the boxing ring when he defeated Jay Swingler on the undercard of the boxing event between KSI and Logan Paul in 2018.

He then fought prominent YouTube fighter Jake Paul but fell to stoppage defeat after being dropped three times in the opening round. Paul has since spearheaded the campaign for YouTube fighters and has continued his career defeating the likes of Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren since entering the professional ranks.

British star Gib will look to take revenge for his controversial result last time out, with McBroom having defeated Bryce Hall on the card organised by Social Gloves. McBroom has challenged Gib's friend KSI if he can progress past the challenge on July 30 in Los Angeles.

Austin posted on Instagram : “Little Gibby better appreciate this opportunity especially after barely beating his last opponent. Might as well count this as charity work. July 30 in LA at the Crypto Arena, I’m back and I’m going to make a statement and put a beating on this baby boy. KSI I’ll see you in the ring next at the end of the year if you beat your next opponent.”

Meanwhile Mayweather is expected to continue his route on the exhibition circuit having put on a successful show against Moore on Abu Dhabi. The undefeated star declared his plans to stage another show in the Middle East having potentially earned $100million for his last fight. Retired star Amir Khan has already thrown his hat in the ring to share the ring with Mayweather calling out the boxing legend from ringside at his previous event.
