Floyd Mayweather's opponent for exhibition announced as ring legend makes return

Floyd Mayweather will take on Don Moore in an exhibition fight on May 14 on a helipad in Dubai.

The retired ring legend had been due to face YouTube star Money Kicks in February but talks broke down weeks before the two men were due to walk to the ring. Mayweather will now take on Moore who won 18 of his 19 professional fights - but never faced an opponent with a winning record.

Moore last fought in 2018, a year after Mayweather's final professional fight against Conor McGregor, and enjoyed an undistinguished career. His bout with Mayweather will take place over eight rounds but may not be scored given its exhibition status.

UFC legend Anderson Silva will feature on the card when he takes on fellow Brazilian veteran MMA fighter Bruno Machado. He will be joined on the undercard by former boxing world champion Badou Jack.

It is unclear whether Mayweather's bout will be scored but it may follow his clash with Logan Paul last summer which had no official winner after going the eight-round distance.

Mayweather said after his win over Paul that he would not contemplate a return to the paid ranks but that he would continue to pursue money-spinning exhibition bouts, taking a swipe at long-time rival Manny Pacquiao at the same time.

"I had fun. You've got to realise I'm not 21 anymore," he said after the final bell. "He's better than I thought he was. "He's a tough, rough competitor and I was surprised by him. He knew how to use his weight and tie me up."

"Pacquiao at his age [42], which is sad, has to fight. I'm financially set, and I want to make everybody hear this. You're going to hear a lot of people say 'Floyd needed to do this', no, I'm well off.

"Every property that I have is paid for, my jet is paid for, all my cars are paid for, I own billion-dollar buildings, I own so much property, I've steadily invested in many different things.I'm invested in the tech world, I've made a lot of smart investments."
