Flowers for Lanarkshire village campaigner who helped ensure children can enjoy their play time

A Cleland woman who helped to ensure new play park facilities for children were installed in the village is this week’s recipient of the Wishaw Press' Say it with Flowers award.

Community campaigner Lynn Gibson was nominated by Margaret Falconer, who is a mum and gran.

“Lynn went out of her way to make sure we got a new swing park in Chapel Street for the kids to enjoy and play happily all the year round," said Margaret.

“The park was wrecked and Lynn got a petition and went round all the houses getting everyone to sign it. She didn’t have to do it.

“It was just a lovely thing to do. There’s nothing much for the kids to do in Cleland so it’s brilliant that she’s went out if her way to do this. Obviously the weather isn’t ideal for using it just now.

“Lynn is good at helping others out because she knows what to say, and how to go about things - if you know what I mean.

“We just thought if she got the flowers it would serve as a nice thank you on behalf of the community for what she does. It’s from everyone in the community and we’re all really grateful for her efforts.”

When we heard how highly thought of Lynn is in Cleland we were delighted to present her with this beautiful floral arrangement courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals in Newmains.
