A Florida woman is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly threatening her daughter and 90-year-old mother with a Taser and a knife during a heated domestic dispute, according to Coral Springs police.
On Nov. 13, officers responded to reports of a family confrontation involving death threats. Cheryl Hyatt, 61, became enraged when her daughter expressed a desire to leave and live with her father, Coral Springs Talk reported.
Witnesses told police Hyatt retrieved a pink Taser and a kitchen knife, pointing the Taser at her family members, demanding, "Who's first?" She then attempted to barricade the front door with a chair to prevent them from leaving, the report said.
The daughter managed to escape through the garage, while the grandmother later removed the barricade to leave through the front door, according to the report.
Video evidence provided to police reportedly shows Hyatt advancing toward her family members, shouting threats and brandishing the Taser.
Hyatt was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs for evaluation before being booked at Broward County Main Jail.
