Florida woman allegedly set a stranger on fire at a gas station after approaching her with a bizarre request

A Florida gas station is at the center of a horrific and seemingly unprovoked attack that left a woman hospitalized with severe burns. A stranger is accused of setting the woman’s face on fire after she refused a request for cash. The violent encounter happened Thursday night, Sept. 10, in St. Petersburg, Florida, and has since led to the arrest of a 41-year-old suspect.

According to Guessing Headlights, citing official reports from St. Petersburg PD, the 41-year-old victim was pumping gas into her Volvo SUV at a Mobil gas station at 101 40th Avenue North around 8 p.m. As she stood by her vehicle, she was approached by Eleanor Crawford, also 41, who investigators said was a complete stranger to the victim.
