What happens when damaged road signposts are no longer useful on land? In Florida, some of them are being given a second life beneath the water.
Santa Rosa County and Escambia County have joined forces to repurpose damaged metal signposts by incorporating them into concrete artificial reef modules. The idea is simple: instead of sending the discarded metal elsewhere, authorities are using it to create additional spaces where small fish and invertebrates can find shelter.
