Urban search and rescue teams are set to conclude their operations in Florida by the end of the day Monday, as announced by state emergency officials during a news conference. The Florida Division of Emergency Management has reported that the teams have already completed nearly 1,000 missions, with close to 2,000 more still in progress.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted the state's efforts to provide recovery assistance to areas severely impacted by flooding in North Carolina and Tennessee. DeSantis emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of individuals in these regions, expressing concerns about potential isolation due to the challenging conditions.
Referred to as 'Operation Blue Ridge,' the ongoing mission aims to bring individuals in the affected areas to safety. Governor DeSantis affirmed the state's commitment to the rescue and recovery efforts, stating, 'We're in the fight. We're gonna be bringing people back to safety.'
