GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators continued to upgrade their future non-conference schedules, adding a home-and-home series with Notre Dame during the 2031 and 2032 football seasons.
UF announced Tuesday the school would travel to South Bend, Ind., in 2031 to face the Fighting Irish, who will then visit the Swamp in 2013.
The two storied programs have met just once, with Jerome Bettis-led Notre Dame beating the Gators, 39-28, during the 1992 Sugar Bowl. Bettis finished with 150 yards rushing and three touchdowns to earn MVP honors, while Florida quarterback Shane Matthews set a Sugar Bowl record with 370 passing yards.
The 2031 and 2032 games continue the Gators’ push to improve the non-conference schedule. UF has scheduled home-and-home series with Utah (2022-23), Miami (2024-25), NC State (2026, 2032), Cal (2026-27), Arizona State (2028, 2031), Colorado (2028-29) and Texas (2030-31).
