On Aug. 19, tragedy struck in Kenya’s Samburu County when a helicopter crash claimed the lives of seven people. Among the victims were a Coral Gables, Florida, couple, Henry Parra, 55, and Adam Hlavaty, 42. While their grieving families were still processing the sudden loss halfway across the world, an incredibly bold crime was already unfolding back at the couple’s northwest Miami-Dade residence.
Within days of the crash, the vacant home was targeted and stripped of hundreds of thousands of dollars in luxury assets. The theft sparked a fast-moving police investigation that eventually uncovered an alleged web of fraud, stolen property and forged legal documents.
