Florida authorities are racing to find a missing 15-year-old girl after evidence has led investigators to fear she may have been kidnapped and taken across state lines.
Adriana Hernandez has been missing since April 7, according to an Amber Alert issued on Monday by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
The teen was last seen near the 6400 block of Bruce Lane in Milton, a community outside Pensacola, Florida, according to the FDLE’s post shared on Facebook.
Officials said that “due to an ongoing investigation, this case has been upgraded to an Amber Alert,” WFLA reported.
Hernandez was initially reported as a runaway, but the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office told the Pensacola News Journal that the case escalated after investigators uncovered evidence suggesting she could be in danger.

Authorities now believe the teen may have been taken to Georgia. Details of what led investigators to believe Hernandez may have been kidnapped are unclear.
Hernandez is described as a white-Hispanic female with brown eyes and brown hair, which “may have a reddish-brown tint.”
She is five feet one inch tall and weighs about 130 pounds, authorities say.
Anyone with information about Hernandez or her whereabouts is urged to call the FDLE Missing Endangered Persons line at 1-888-356-4774 or the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office at 850-983-1190.
