It seems the drama just doesn’t stop following new film Don’t Worry Darling.
Following the cast’s appearance at the Venice Film Festival, Florence Pugh’s stylist appeared to make a dig at the movie’s director Olivia Wilde in a post.
Pugh stars in Don’t Worry Darling alongside Harry Styles, Chris Pine, and Gemma Chan and arrived at the premiere on Monday evening, looking spectacular in a dazzling black embellished cutaway gown.
Pugh’s stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray posted a series of photos of Pugh in her showstopping red-carpet look as she captioned the post “Miss Flo”, referring to how Wilde addressed the actress in a leaked video from Shia LaBeouf.
LaBeouf, who was originally cast in Styles’s role, shared the video after Wilde implied she had fired the actor to create a “safer” working environment.
The video seemed to prove LaBeouf had walked away from the role instead, and hinted at tension with Pugh behind-the-scenes, as Wilde said: “I think this might be a bit of a wake-up call for Miss Flo.”
After coining the same phrase, stylist Corbin-Murray received quite the reaction from fans.
“The shadddeeee,” one commented, as another said: “OH THIS CAPTION IS SO ICONIC”.
Pugh did not attend the press conference for Don’t Worry Darling at the Venice Film Festival, due to being delayed with scheduling commitments on Dune 2, Wilde confirmed.
During the press conference, the director was asked about the feud rumours between herself and Pugh, to which she responded: “I can’t say enough how honoured I am to have her as our lead.
“She’s amazing in the film and, as for all the endless tabloid gossip and all the noise out there, I mean, the internet feeds itself. I don’t feel the need to contribute, I think it’s sufficiently well nourished.”
Pugh spoke briefly about her “inspiring” experience working on Don’t Worry Darling, which is released on September 23, at the premiere.
The star said on the red carpet: “I think it’s very, very inspiring to see a woman push back and say ‘no’, and question everything,” she replied. “It’s very exciting to see a woman do that on and off camera.”
