Florence Pugh praised for 'iconic behaviour' as she swerves Olivia Wilde for a cocktail

Florence Pugh sipped a spritz in an all-purple outfit as she seemingly swerved the Don't Worry Darling press conference with Olivia Wilde.

Fans have dubbed her antics “iconic behaviour” as she strutted through Venice after telling the press that she wouldn’t be around due to filming commitments.

Her team had told journalists that she couldn’t attend Monday morning’s promotional conference as she was flying in from Budapest where she is filming Dune 2.

Don’t Worry Darling director Olivia reiterated the story to the waiting press, but as the event began, Florence's stylist Rebecca Corbin Murray shared the video on Instagram.

Wearing a purple co-ord, matching blazer, shoes and clutch bag – Florence, who stars in Olivia’s new movie, sipped a drink as she walked through Venice.

“Florence Pugh avoiding the conference and its drama at the Venice film festival and enjoying a spritz. This is what I call iconic behaviour, no one is doing it like her,” said one fan on Twitter.

Another added: “Not Olivia Wilde saying Florence Pugh couldn’t make the Don’t Worry Darling press conference because of scheduling conflicts and her literally being in Venice at the same time with this energy.”

Despite rumours of an ongoing feud between the pair, Olivia praised Florence in her absence, saying she was a “force” - confirming she would join the premiere that night.

She said: “We are so grateful that she is able to make it tonight despite being in production on Dune. I know as a director how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day so I'm very grateful to her and Denis Villeneuve for helping us – we're really thrilled we'll get to celebrate her work tonight.”

It comes as Olivia and her boyfriend, singer-turned-actor Harry Styles, arrived separately to her new film’s photocall.

The psychological thriller stars Florence, 26, as a housewife who worries there may be dark secrets behind the utopian experimental community where she lives.

Her co-stars include Styles, 28, as her on-screen husband, and the project was directed and co-produced by Olivia, 38, who Harry met working on the film.

Harry arrived wearing a white top, a cream blazer with blue stripe detail, black pants and a pair of brown shoes. He accessorised the look with a blue scarf.

Olivia wore an eye-catching yellow gown slashed to the waist. In similarly happy spirits, Wilde smiled as she waved to photographers.

Posing for photos, Wilde laughed as her ruffled canary yellow gown trailed behind her, accessorising with a diamond encrusted choker and platinum rings.
