Floral tributes have been laid at a residential property following the tragic death of a man in a house fire.
The man, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene after police officers and the fire service responded to reports of a blaze in Northumberland Street, Wallsend, in the early hours of yesterday morning (October 22).
Windows of the ground floor flat were smashed and the surrounding brickwork stained black as residents said thick smoke was “billowing” out onto the street while emergency services “flooded” into the area.

And now colourful flowers have begun to appear on the doorstep of a man who will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, residents say.
"Healing prayers and comfort for your partner and family," one tribute read.
One man, who lives on the street and also didn't want to be named, described the man who lived at the address as a “good kid”.
"He sat outside playing his music, he was quiet and seemed like a good kid. I knew nothing about it until I checked my ring doorbell and saw there’d been a load of activity. It’s really sad,” he said.
Another resident who also chose to remain anonymous said: “He was a really nice guy, he was only sitting outside just this week. He talked to everyone in the street, everyone knew him.”
A team of forensics were at the scene yesterday afternoon. Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police using the Tell us Something page on the Northumbria Police website, or by calling 101, quoting log NP-20221022-0078.
