Michael's family have paid tribute to their "kind, caring and courageous" son, while his girlfriend Rhianna Draper said he made her the "happiest girl alive" in a heartbreaking tribute.
The tributes have been placed at the police cordon which is still in place at the murder scene. Two heart-shaped tributes are from family members, with one reading: "To a beautiful nephew... tragically passed away. You lived your life with laughter and cheer. Old memories we will hold dear."
The other read: "To a beautiful grandson. You lost your life at tragic scene."
The family has expressed a wish that Michael can be remembered with a minute's applause at tomorrow's Merseyside Derby.
Detectives are keen to speak to people who were seen standing at a bus stop on London Road and walking past TJ Hughes at the time of the incident who may have witnessed what happened. They are also appealing to the driver of a vehicle which was seen being driven erratically at the time.
The results of a post mortem confirmed Michael, of Oil Street, Liverpool, died from multiple injuries. A 34 year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been bailed pending further enquiries.
