SCOTLAND'S rail network is facing disruption as bad weather hits.
A yellow warning for rain and snow is in place until 11.59pm on December 31, covering most of the north of Scotland as well as Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The forecaster warned that public transport could face disruption with ScotRail already confirmed services are facing disruption.
The rail operator also said in a statement on Twitter/X: "Due to flooding in the Kingussie area the line has been closed.
"Our services between Inverness and Edinburgh/Glasgow Queen Street will. be cancelled, delayed or revised."

Ferry operator CalMac has also warned of potential disruptions on a number of its routes – the full list of which can be viewed HERE.
Meanwhile, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency has also issued a number of flood alerts and more severe flood warnings.
The flood warnings are in place in the following areas:
- Strath Oykel
- Strath Carron
- Aberfoyle
- Moy Bridge
- Strathglass
- Nairn Side (Cawdor)
- Spey Dam to Newtonmore
- Newtonmore to Kingussie
- Sluggan to Dulnain Bridge
- Aberlour, Craigellachie and Dandaleith
- Boat O’Brig to Spey Viaduct
- Spey Viaduct to Spey Bay
- Dallas to Doual Bridge
- Glen Nevis
- Loch Lochy to Torcastle
- Lochybridge
- Upper Tay
- Glen Lyon
Flood alerts meanwhile are also in place in the following areas:
- Argyll and Bute
- Caithness and Sutherland
- Central
- Easter Ross and Great Glen
- Findhorn, Nairn, Moray and Speyside
- Skye and Lochaber
- Tayside
The Met Office has issued several weather warnings over Hogmanay and New Year, with rain, wind and snow set to hit Scotland.
Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Torchlight Procession has already been forced to cancel due to poor weather.
