Flood preparation plans need to protect at-risk homes and businesses better, NSW regional communities say

Building homes and roads on flood-prone land while weather events are increasing and intensifying is leading parts of New South Wales into unpredictable danger, a lobby group has warned.

Agricultural organisation NSW Farmers wants an independent review to consider how flooding has changed across the state, especially in the wake of last year's deadly devastation at Lismore in the Northern Rivers and Eugowra in the Central West.
