Flogas Energy announces more energy price hikes amid cost-of-living crisis

Flogas Energy is set to increase electricity and gas prices further starting next month.

The news comes as thousands of families across Ireland are facing a cost-of-living crisis following a major price hikes. Electricity bills are set to increase by 17% while gas bills will jump by 23%, according to Flogas.

This is Flogas' third price hike this year that will come into effect on October 23. General Manager Sean O'Loughlin said that the company had no option" but to increase its rates, RTE reports.

The company added that daily standing charges will not be affected by the hike. Mr O'Loughlin added: "We will support affected customers through our Customer Service team as much as possible and have a range of options, including payment plans, Budget Pay and pre-payment meters. We would ask any Flogas customer who is facing financial pressure around their energy bills to contact us."

Additionally, the supplier said it is increasing the payment to customers using solar panels under its microgeneration scheme to 24c per kWh.
