Millions of holidaymakers will be jetting off abroad this summer, but travellers have been warned by two flight attendants to never order certain beverages while in the air. Flight attendant Deja, who posts videos on TikTok as I.amdejaa, said in a post: "When you are travelling on an aeroplane please don't drink coffee or tea."
Deja went on to claim that the "water tanks on the aeroplane are never cleaned, and they are very disgusting." Instead, she recommends passengers buy their hot beverages at a café or restaurant in the airport before boarding.
Do this after going through security, to avoid trouble with going over liquid allowances. Adding to items on the drink list warned against by flight attendants is Jet, who writes a blog about working as a cabin crew member.
The flight attendant told passengers to stop order Diet Coke, adding: "Soft drinks foam up a lot more when poured out of a can, and the worst culprit for this is Diet Coke – I literally have to sit and wait for the bubbles to fall before I can continue pouring.
"If all three passengers ask for Diet Coke I'll often get them started, take another three drink orders, serve those, and then finish the Diet Cokes."
There's nothing wrong with the brand or taste, just waiting around annoys Jet: "What you can't see is that the Diet Coke doesn't come out of the can when flipped upside down until you lift it up and tilt it slightly.
"This is because the air pressure is keeping the Coke in the can. It makes pouring the Diet Coke very controllable and reduces the chances of spilling or overflow."
This is the same with all fizzy drinks up in the air, with carbonation also responsible for many experiencing heartburn during their flights.
The air on a plane is much drier than what it is on the ground, meaning consuming fizzy drinks as well as alcohol can leave you feeling weary and unwell. These are both drinks that should be avoided before flying and whilst flying, both because the risk of dehydration is huge.
