Getting on a plane can sometimes feel really stressful - whether you're dreading putting your luggage into the overhead locker, or praying there's not somebody already sitting in your seat, it can be equal parts exciting and daunting.
One flight attendant, Kat Kamalani, wanted to make passengers feel a little more at ease, however, when she posted some handy hints onto her TikTok page @katkamalani to show people why it doesn't have to be 'humiliating' to put your carry-on luggage in the overhead locker.
She also explained the reason why the cabin crew won't put your bag in the overhead locker for you, as it's not actually their job to do that.
Kat explained she was going to give some 'life-changing tips' for you if you're flying, and the first one was to 'try it at home first'.
About luggage, she said: "If you can't lift it, don't bring it. Try it at home first to see if you can even lift it above your head, and if you can't, take some stuff out."
She also recommended looking at the placard in the overhead locker, as it 'shows you how to store your luggage'.
Kat said: "If you can just look at that it saves so much time and is so much easier."
She finished the advice off by saying: "Everyone thinks it's a flight attendant's job to lift your luggage into the bins, but it's not.
"Actually, our airlines, a tonne of airlines, tell you 'do not do this', because there are so many injuries with it. So if we get injured it's not even covered.
"So, just ask the flight attendant to assist you and then they will totally help you to put it up there."
In the comments, many people said that if they needed help to put their luggage in the overhead locker they wouldn't ask cabin crew - they'd ask a fellow passenger.
One wrote: "1. I need everything I packed 2. I'm short I can't read that high 3. Someone better help me put it up there."
Another said: "I always help the people who are shorter and the people who are obviously struggling!"
Someone else joked: "But I’m too short to see that placard. I didn't even know that was a thing. I just yeet it up there."
