It's no secret that food on planes isn't always the best and while we don't expect it to be, we always hope a nice drink will make up for it while in the air.
But according to a former flight attendant, there are certain beverages she recommends you steer clear of when flying.
Kat Kamalani, who has worked as a flight attendant in the US, has shared a video with her 992,000 followers explaining which drinks she thinks you should avoid asking for when travelling.
She captioned the video writing: "Do not consume these things on a plane, from a flight attendant.
"Just promise me you won't."
Kat claimed the biggest mistake you can make on a plane is consuming any liquid that's not in a can or plastic bottle.
She said: "The reason being is that those water tanks are never cleaned and they are disgusting.
"Talk to a flight attendant, we rarely, rarely drink the tea or coffee, they come from the same water tank and so when you're drinking that coffee and tea it comes from that hot water and it's absolutely disgusting."
The expert went on to demonstrate the different parts of a coffee machine on a plane, claiming that certain parts are only ever cleaned if they are broken.
"The whole machine is never cleaned AND they're by the lavatories," she continues.
As well as not asking for tea and coffee, Kat also believes parents shouldn't ask for hot water to put their baby bottles in either.
Instead, she recommends you should ask for a bottle of water and a cup of hot water. Next, you make up the formula using the cold water then heat the baby's bottle up by placing it inside the cup of hot water.
It's unclear which airline Kat has worked as a flight attendant for.
More than one million people watched Kat's video , with thousands commenting to share their thoughts.
Many were angry with the content, demanding to know why flight attendants don't just clean the hot water tanks if they're so bad.
One person replied: "You guys should clean them. Seriously that's messed up."
Another wrote: "Why don't you guys fix this if you know about it? This is irresponsible."
A third, who claimed to be a former flight attendant as well agreed with Kat's comments, saying: "Truth! As a former FA I can attest that this is 100% spot on."
A different TikTok user added: "Whaaaa why? Ugh no wonder airline coffee is eh."
However, not everyone was convinced by her comments and some who claimed to work for airlines said that this wasn't the case for all planes.
"In my airline water tanks are monitored and disinfected regularly. Also, the steel pots from coffee makers are changed after every flight by catering," responded someone else.
But the same user did later state that any water consumed on the plane should be "bottled or heated before drinking".
