Flight Attendant Reveals Why To Avoid Plane Hot Beverages

Flight attendant admits why she’d never drink tea or coffee on a plane

When it comes to flying, there are numerous unwritten rules that passengers may not be aware of. A recent revelation from a flight attendant sheds light on a new guideline to consider. The flight attendant shared insights from her experience working for a US airline, cautioning passengers against consuming hot beverages onboard unless absolutely necessary.

The reason behind this advice lies in the maintenance practices of the airline industry. The flight attendant disclosed that she and her colleagues refrain from drinking the coffee or tea served on flights due to irregular cleaning of the machines that boil the water for these beverages. She highlighted that the water used for coffee and tea originates from the same source, which is seldom cleaned.

Despite airlines claiming to conduct 'regular water quality tests,' the reality is that these tests occur infrequently, with intervals of six to nine months per plane. The tanks containing the water for hot beverages are only cleaned if an issue is detected during testing.

Additionally, the flight attendant shared other recommendations for passengers to enhance their flying experience. These include refraining from clapping upon landing, avoiding immediate standing after landing, not attempting to secure a free upgrade by gifting attendants, and keeping shoes on during flights.

Furthermore, a long-standing question regarding cabin crew behavior during take-off and landing was recently answered. Passengers have often wondered why cabin crew members sit on their hands during these critical phases of the flight.

Overall, these insights provide valuable information for air travelers to consider on their next journey, ensuring a safe and comfortable flying experience.
