Fleetwood Mac ’s Lindsey Buckingham, 73, has cancelled the remaining dates on his U.K and Ireland tour.
The American musician's representatives confirmed over the weekend that the star has 'regrettably' had to pull out of the upcoming dates on his tour due to 'ongoing health issues' - apologising to fans who had planned to see Fleetwood Mac's former male lead singer take to the stage in Europe.
Lindsey - who suffered vocal cord damage when he underwent open heart surgery in 2019 - performed on stage in London on Saturday night [October 1], with critics present at the gig held at the London Palladium claiming the rock star 'delivered in style' as he performed a mix of his solo material and classic Rumours tracks.
But the following day, it was announced the remaining dates on his U.K and Ireland tour would not be going ahead - with the statement from Lindsey's team coming just 24 hours before he was due to entertain fans in Glasgow on Monday night [October 3] ahead of travelling to Liverpool and Dublin later in the week.
"Due to ongoing health issues, Lindsey is regrettably having to cancel the remaining shows on his current European tour," the statement shared on Sunday [October 2] read.
"Refunds will be available from the point of purchase. Lindsey sends his deepest apologies to all of his fans who were planning to attend and hopes to return to Europe in the future."
Lindsey's official website still has the cancelled tour dates listed - in addition to dates across America later this month and throughout November.
The guitarist and singer underwent emergency open heart surgery in February 2019, with his wife Kristen saying at the time: "Lindsey Buckingham experienced severe chest pains and was taken to the hospital where he subsequently underwent emergency open heart surgery.
"It’s with great relief and thankful hearts that we report the surgery was successful in its purpose. Unfortunately, the life-saving procedure caused vocal cord damage, the permanency of which is unclear. Lindsey is slowly recovering at home with the support of his wife and children."
She later went on to update Lindsey's fans on social media, saying: "Each day he is stronger than the last. While he and his heart are doing well, the surgery resulted in vocal cord damage. While it is unclear if the damage is permanent, we are hopeful it is not."
Although also a successful solo artist, Lindsey is best known for his work as the lead guitarist and lead male singer in Fleetwood Mac, alongside Stevie Nicks from 1975 to 1987 and 1997 to 2018.
On April 9, 2018, the rocker left the group for a second time and replaced by Mike Campbell and New Zealander Neil Finn
