Fleeing felon’s car gets taken out by police grappler device

Police Florida Tampa

A fleeing sex offender's car was stopped by police grappling hook after a pursuit in Tampa, Florida on 28 September 2026.

Wanted felon Darius Ford, 28, was driving along the I-75 North near E. Fowler Ave when he was spotted by the Hillsborough County Police.

After a chase down the highway the police were able to slow down his vehicle by releasing a grappler that attached to Ford's back tire.

After successfully stopping Ford's car, he was arrested and is now in custody facing 16 felony charges including possession of a controlled substance and sexual offender providing false information after registration.
