A dog was found dead and "swarming" with maggots in a flat with no food and water.
Joseph Alan Smith left his dog Tia to starve to death in a flat on Stanley Road in Kirkdale just weeks after he told an RSPCA officer she had been put down. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Tia was found dead on the sofa by the landlord of the property, who contacted the RSPCA.
Smith, of Onslow Road, Fairfield, was jailed for 16 weeks at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on February 16, having pleaded guilty to failing to provide for Tia’s needs and causing unnecessary suffering by not addressing the cause of her weight loss. He was also banned from keeping animals for life.
