Flames and smoke seen from across River Mersey

Flames and smoke were seen from across the River Mersey.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to Woodside Ferry Terminal in Birkenhead, Wirral, just before 8pm on Wednesday, July 5, following reports of a blaze. Once two fire engines arrived at the scene seven minutes later they found a number of wooden huts well alight.

Two firefighters were equipped with breathing apparatus and fought the flames with two hose reel jets. The flames are now under control with firefighters dampening down.

The ECHO understands nobody was injured in the blaze and emergency services will be leaving the area shortly. Video footage that was recorded on a mobile phone and sent to The ECHO shows flames and smoke could be seen from across the River Mersey from the Albert Dock.
