Bolton Wanderers are gearing up for the 2022/23 season in League One.
Ian Evatt's side will be aiming to build on the ninth place finish they achieved last season, an encouraging position for a newly promoted side. Next campaign, Wanderers will be seeking to make a promotion charge in earnest.
The third tier of English football looks likely to be as competitive as ever with several big teams who will no doubt habour ambitions of the top of the division. The likes of Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons, Derby County, Barnsley, Peterborough United, Portsmouth, Ipswich Town, Charlton Athletic, Wycombe Wanderers, Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle will be among the likely opponents for Wanderers aiming for the top six.

Whilst there is still plenty to prepare, the English Football League (EFL) released the fixture release date as well as dates for the opening and end of the next season. Here's how the upcoming campaign is shaping up for Wanderers as things stand.
When are the fixtures out?
Fixtures for the new season will be announced on Thursday, June 23.
When does the season start and finish?
The opening day will begin on Saturday July 30. This means that the League One campaign will begin a week earlier than the recently concluded season did and will finish a week later on May 6, 2023.
Is there a break for the winter World Cup?
Not for League One and League Two teams, so Wanderers are poised to play on when the World Cup takes place in Qatar. The Premier League and the Championship will pause fixtures from November 12, with a resumption on December 10 meaning that the final week of the World Cup will take place while the league's games resume. However, the criteria for three first team players being called up being required to postpone a fixture remains.
When will the Carabao Cup start?
The first round will take place week beginning August 10, the midweek after the first round of fixtures. In full the ties will take place week beginning:

What are the play-off dates?
The play-off final dates for the Championship, League One and League Two are scheduled for between May 27 and May 29.
