Five things we know about the man suspected of murdering Ann Widdecombe

1. Joshua Kerry, 28, has been charged with the murder of former Conservative MP and Reform spokesperson Ann Widdecombe.
2. Kerry, who was remanded in custody after appearing at the Old Bailey on Tuesday afternoon, lives at a terraced home in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, and is suspected of driving nearly 300 miles to carry out the attack on Ms Widdecombe.
3. Kerry used to work for a lift company, and reportedly lived with his dog in a housing estate in the Kimberworth Park area.
4. Neighbours claimed they had rarely seen him in public since his father’s death last December; his mother and two brothers are believed to have left the area.
5. Kerry’s uncle described his nephew as a "gentle giant" who is "polite" and "very shy", and the home secretary said he was not previously known to Prevent, the government’s anti-terror scheme.
