Five rushed to hospital after Edinburgh firefighters race to early morning blaze

Edinburgh Royal Infirmary Leith Walk Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Scottish Ambulance Service SFRS

Five people have been rushed to hospital after a fire broke out in Edinburgh overnight.

The blaze started in a dwelling on Leith Walk around 2:35am on Wednesday morning, with five casualties being taken to the Royal Infirmary to be treated for smoke inhalation, with a further three treated at the scene.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) mobilised four appliances to the scene, with a height appliance also providing fire survival guidance to four properties.
