Five Premier League clubs ‘circling’ Scott McTominay and other Manchester United transfer rumours

The imminent arrival of Casemiro at Manchester United has triggered interest in Scott McTominay from a number of Premier League clubs.

The Scot will likely be the midfielder that makes way for the new signing, with Fred already having a good on-field relationship with 30-year-old Casemiro for Brazil. A section of United's support has frequently questioned the central 'McFred' partnership with many doubting McTominay's long-term place in the Reds' future lineup.

The Reds have not declared he is available for sale, and the 25-year-old has not asked to leave either. However, that hasn’t stopped a handful of Premier League clubs from reportedly shortlisting the midfielder.

According to 90min, Newcastle are keen on McTominay. The Magpies have just lost Jonjo Shelvey to a long-term injury and Eddie Howe could dip into the market again before deadline day. West Ham are also keen while Everton, Leicester and Southampton have also registered an interest.

If McTominay does secure an exit, it is thought it will likely only be on loan with just days left until the end of the window making it difficult for United to make a long-term decision on him. They have transfer-listed James Garner and will be cautious of letting too many deep-lying midfielders leave amid their shortfall.

Clubs from Germany and Italy are supposedly keeping tabs on the situation with McTominay. Meanwhile, Marca claims United are mulling over whether to trigger the £51m release clause of Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco.

The attacker could reportedly be let go by his club and Erik ten Hag is said to be interested after failed attempts for Matheus Cunha and Joao Felix. United feel like they would be able to support the 28-year-old’s wages, the report adds.
