Five old songs that reentered charts years later after Kate Bush Number 1 success

While the charts are usually filled up with new hits, sometimes a song from years gone by pops up and experiences some newfound popularity.

It tends to happen because of TV shows or popular events and for many it's great to see a shake-up in the usually predictable charts.

Most recently TikTok has fallen in love with Kate Bush's 1985 hit, 'Running Up That Hill', following the song's appearance in the globally loved Netflix show Stranger Things.

The song made it to number one on iTunes 37 years after its original release after it played a pivotal part in the story of the beloved teen drama series.

Even Kate Bush couldn't believe it, telling Emma Barnett on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, the situation was: “just extraordinary … quite shocking really, isn’t it? I mean, the whole world’s gone mad.”

Here are some other hits that have done well years after their release dates...

Scots couldn't get enough of it, with the song re-entering the UK charts on 20 November 2020 at number 57.

It happened again in June 2021, when Scottish DJ George 'GBX' Bowie remixed the song, which included new vocals from Baccara.

The remix made it all the way to number 11 on the Official Singles Sales Chart Top 100.
