Five lowlights from Donald Trump’s year of humiliation after election rout

It’s officially been a year since Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden.

After days of anxiously waiting for the election results, Mr Biden was confirmed as the next President of the United States on November 7th, 2020.

While many celebrated Biden’s win and the fact that Trump had finally been defeated, the joy was quickly forced to be put on hold as false claims of a ‘stolen election’ began to circulate.

Donald Trump was, of course, the loudest voice screaming that the Democrats had taken his ‘big win’ from him.

What followed was chaos, violence, and anger from Trump’s devoted MAGA fans. There’s no way Americans would have been able to adequately prepare for just how draining the following months would be.

What we did know, as exhibited by the span of his presidency, was that Trump wasn’t about to leave the White House without a fight. And when he finally lost the support of political officials and reluctantly agreed to exit office, it turned out that he had even further to fall.

From being banned from Twitter to inciting the U.S Capitol riots, to making history as the first president to ever be impeached twice; here’s a roundup of the lowlights of Donald Trump’s life as a former president.

Being banned from Twitter

Perhaps the only thing that hurt Donald Trump more than losing the presidency was losing the ability to post all of his hysterical tweets.

After the January 6 U.S Capitol riots, Twitter, along with several other social media platforms, banned him. Twitter’s decision came after finding his tweets had violated its policy barring “glorification of violence” and were “highly likely” to encourage people to replicate what happened in the deadly insurrection.

Since leaving office Trump has made multiple appearances on Fox News and held his own rally, but it begs the question, how many people are still keeping up with Trump? The answer is not nearly as many as when he was on Twitter and had 88 million followers. Not to mention, the fact that he was trending practically every day by firing off one of his unhinged tweets as a sure-fire way of attracting the attention he wanted, and it worked every time.

His failed blog

Again, Trump just really wants to feel like people care about his opinions and his failed blog did the opposite. “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump,” launched back in May but was shut down after just a month with the rumour circulating that it had almost no readers.

And if you thought there was a chance Trump would be blogging again sometime soon, you’d be mistaken. The official page of “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump” was scrubbed from Trump’s website entirely in June. Trump’s senior aide Jason Miller also confirmed it would “not be returning”.

Insisting he doesn’t like having women pee on him

The Washington Post reported that while speaking to GOP donors, the 45th president randomly referenced and denied the allegations in the Steele dossier, compiled by a British former intelligence officer, that claimed there was video footage of prostitutes urinating in front of Trump in a Moscow hotel room in 2013. This was debunked by Robert Mueller.

Unprompted, Trump is said to have told the donors, “I’m not into golden showers,” he told the crowd.

Continue to believe he won the election

You’d think that after a few months, Trump would have finally been a good loser and reluctantly accepted the results of the election. Wrong!

Trump is still adamant that Biden won the election unfairly and that the Democrats rigged it.

“The single biggest issue — the issue that gets the most pull, the most respect, the biggest cheers — is talking about the election fraud of 2020’s presidential election,” Trump said at a recent rally in Iowa. This is just one of the many examples where he has dismissed the results.

Melania Trump caught rolling her eyes at her husband

Okay, this one might have been a constant throughout his presidency, but it’s still gold. After settling back to what could be a quiet time to reconnect as partners outside of the limelight, it doesn’t seem like Melania has grown to be any more affectionate towards Donald Trump, at least not publicly.

Melania was caught smiling alongside the Republican politician during their attendance at the Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series, only for the smile to immediately drop as she turned away.

The moment was caught on camera and, like most of Melania and Donald Trump’s awkward interactions, has since gone viral.
