A Five Guys restaurant could be coming to Bridgend.
The council has received a planning application to turn the former GAP store at McArthurGlen designer outlet village in Bridgend into a Five Guys. There are currently only four Five Guys restaurants in Wales - three in Cardiff and one in Swansea.
If approved, the development could mean the employment of five full-time members of staff and 10 part-time members of staff. The GAP at McArthurGlen in Bridgend was among 81 GAP stores in the UK that closed last year.
Porthcawl
A proposal has been put forward for the construction of two new bungalows on the site of a builder's storage yard in Porthcawl.
If approved, the builder's yard to the rear of Suffolk Place would be removed to make way for the two two-bed dormer bungalows for people in need of assisted living or full-time in-house care.
Each dwelling would be provided with two parking spaces, one of which would be a disabled parking space. A supporting planning statement also claims that the development would "remove the existing undesirable regular use of the narrow back lanes by large vehicles accessing the site".
Bridgend
A change of use application has been lodged by Persimmon Homes to turn four units of a housing estate in Bridgend into shops and eateries.
The application, relating to units four, five, six and seven of Parc Derwen District Centre's Beta Block, seeks to allow flexibility for the future uses of the remaining units on site.
In a covering letter attached to their application, Persimmon Homes said the proposal has been made "with a view to achieving an occupied commercial space (potentially providing a wider variety of uses) at the earliest opportunity, thereby minimising the need for residents of Parc Derwen to travel outside of the development to meet their basic needs."
The letter adds that they hope the development would make a positive contribution to the area "without having a material adverse impact upon the local highway network and the amenities currently enjoyed by nearby residents".
