Five Guys has made a Christmas addition to its menu that absolutely no-one asked for: a pigs in blankets milkshake (yes, really).
The fast food chain, which has a branch in Newcastle city centre and Gateshead's Metrocentre, unveiled the questionable beverage especially for the festive season. Adding to their previous bacon offering, you can now get a milkshake that tastes just like the porky Christmas favourite - and let's face it, who hasn't dreamed of crunching on bacon bits while they're drinking a milkshake?
You can even choose to mix it up with some of Five Guys' other nine milkshake mix-in flavours, including Oreo pieces, Lotus Biscoff, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, strawberry, banana, chocolate or salted caramel - although we probably wouldn't recommend it. Five Guys assured customers: "Trust us when we say don't knock it 'til you try it, because you'll be eating your words once you finish it - or should we say drinking them!"

But despite the reassurance, many diners have not been convinced by the idea of a savoury milkshake. As the Metrocentre shared news of the new menu item on their Facebook page, people were quick to share their disgust.
"Noooooo! That's worse than pineapple on pizzas!" one person wrote.
Another simply added: "I feel sick."
"Even I wouldn't fancy this, although I'm slightly intrigued," a third Five Guys fan admitted. Priced from £5.45, the milkshakes are on sale in stores nationwide until Boxing Day.
A spokesperson said: "With over 40 million Pigs in Blankets packets sold every year, to say that the nation is obsessed with the festive treat would be a complete understatement. Which is why Five Guys have dedicated their brand new, limited edition Christmas Milkshake to the much-loved pork dish.
"Made up of three rashers of bacon, mixed into the signature Five Guys milkshake base, the ‘Pigs in Blankets’ shake is the perfect balance between sweet and salty. Not only that, but the additional blended bacon bits add a much-enjoyed crunchy texture to the dessert… something you might never have thought you needed before!" And something you might just think you'll never need either.
