Five episodes in, The Boys season 5 finally delivers another major death, but fans are questioning if the Supe could survive

Antony Starr as Homelander in The Boys season 5.

A new episode of The Boys season 5 has landed, and after a rather quiet few installments, this one contains a major death that we have all been waiting for, but fans have mixed feelings on the final blow.

Warning: this article contains major spoilers for The Boys season 5 episode 5, so turn back now if you haven't seen the new episode.

The most recent episode of The Boys takes a break from Homelander and Butcher's ongoing war for a second and focuses on other characters in their own little 10-minute POV breakouts. In one section, we get to see how living under Homelander's tyrannical rule is affecting Firecracker. The ultra-religious, outspoken Supe is having trouble grappling with the leader of the Seven turning himself into a god, and so she voices her concerns to Soldier Boy, which lands her in a lot of trouble.

After refusing to help Mister Marathon and Malchemical murder his son, Soldier Boy has a kind of heart-to-heart with Homelander, and spills the beans on Firecracker's pillow talk. After learning that the Truthbomb host doesn't have full faith in him being a God, Homelander visits Firecracker in her quarters and banishes her from Vought. However, when Firecracker professes her love to him, something in Homelander snaps, forcing him to drive her head into a nearby eagle statue, seemingly killing her.

Now, we had a feeling that another big death was on its way. Season 5 kicked off with a bang after Homelander murdered ex-Seven member A-Train, but the core cast have been safe since then. One thing is for sure, The Boys fans are excited to see the final season ramp up, and have not held back on sharing their reactions online.

Many feel that the Supe's death was rather serendipitous, as one fan took to Twitter and said, "She died as she lived, consumed by her need for approval and relevance, meeting a tragic end; her final moments symbolize the price of allying with a power that would never protect her." another added, "Firecracker betrayed her own self just to get killed by homelander i hate this show already."

However, others don't think the Supe really is dead, as one fan said, "Sources tell me firecracker is stable," and another replied, "She's a supe, it shouldn't kill her." Hmm, we think that being impaled on a statue by Homelander would be enough to kill most Supes.
