Authorities in Tennessee have confirmed the arrest of five individuals over the weekend in connection to an attempted murder case that occurred in August 2023. The incident left a 29-year-old victim with a skull fracture following an attack involving a baseball bat and a skillet.

The Carter County Sheriff's Office revealed that the charges against the suspects are a result of an investigation into an assault that took place on August 19, 2023. Deputies responded to a report of the assault and found the victim with severe head injuries, necessitating immediate medical attention.

According to deputies, the victim was unable to provide a statement at the time of the incident due to the extent of his injuries. Family members of the victim reported receiving a distress call from him, indicating that he had been attacked by multiple individuals using weapons such as a baseball bat, brass knuckles, and a cast iron skillet.

Upon further investigation at the scene of the crime, deputies discovered the victim's vehicle with bloodstains and a broken cast iron skillet nearby. Medical staff later confirmed that the victim had sustained a skull fracture as a result of the assault.

Following indictments by the Carter County Grand Jury, five individuals were charged in connection to the case. The suspects include Jerry A. Carden Jr., Meesha Brieanne Williams, Kelvin Lynn Bradley Jr., Daniel A. Shearl, and Jeffery Scott Brooks Jr. Each faces charges related to conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a weapon, tampering with evidence, and filing a false report.

All five suspects were arrested over the weekend and were released on a $25,000 bond each, except for Shearl, who remains in custody at the Carter County Detention Center.
