A 25-year-old mom and fitness enthusiast, Minelys Rodriguez, who had a significant following on TikTok, has been found dead after disappearing during a shopping trip to a Walmart in Georgia. Rodriguez was last seen at a Walmart in Cornelia on Oct. 22, with her last known contact being a text message to her fiancé that raised suspicions due to its nature.
After failing to return home, Rodriguez was reported missing by her family the following day. The search efforts led by the Habersham County Sheriff's Office initially made little progress, prompting a request for assistance from the state three days later.
On Monday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested a 24-year-old man named Angel DeJesus Rivera-Sanches, who is now facing murder charges in connection with Rodriguez's disappearance. Following an extensive search involving GBI agents, state Department of Natural Resources crews, and local police, Rodriguez's body was discovered on Tuesday evening.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Rodriguez shared a variety of content on her TikTok account, including shopping videos and personal anecdotes about her past, which included childhood encounters with the law. Rivera-Sanches, who had previously been arrested on kidnapping charges, is currently being held without bail at the Habersham County Detention Center.
An autopsy was conducted on Rodriguez, and the results were pending as of Wednesday. Authorities urge anyone with information related to the case to come forward and contact the GBI to assist in the ongoing investigation.
