Two supermarkets have recalled fish products as the food may be unsafe to eat.
Waitrose has cleared its shelves of two of its own-label cooked prawns lines amid fears that some of the prawns inside the bags may be raw. Because eating raw shellfish can lead to food poisoning, this means the contents aren't safe to eat.
Two different packs of frozen king prawns are afftected by the recall:
Waitrose Frozen Cooked & Peeled Jumbo King Prawns 200g: Batch VN394, all date codes up to and including June 2023
Essential Frozen Cooked King Prawns 250g: Batch VN394, all date codes up to and including February 2024

If you've bought a product that's been recalled, you have the right to a refund thanks to the Consumer Rights Act. The retailer that sold it should offer you a full refund, even if it's been in your cupboard or freezer for a while. Even if you've already consumed the product or thrown it away, you are still entitled to a refund if you can provide proof of purchase such as a receipt, bank statement, or online order confirmation.
